The six chapters chosen were the sixth chapter through to the eleventh chapter. This translation continues from where another student of this degree’s earlier translation work ended. The story chosen was the first published work by Rosa Maria Britton, who is an author of international renown in the Latin American literature scene. The novel El ataúd de uso, was set in the perfect time period and location for it to be an interesting literary piece to translate. It was set in an imaginary town in an almost-forgotten island in Panama where inhabitants take care of themselves when the government forgets them. The action takes place during the Panamanian separation from Colombia. This historical background gives the novel a serious undertone that makes an interesting contrast with the at times comical and fantastic tone of the novel.Item type | Current library | Collection | Call number | Copy number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
